The Eco Club and the AP Environmental Science programs are starting different fundraising events to help support the building of the new garden. One of their first fundraising events is hosting an Annual Plant Sale where you can buy a variety of vegetable and flowering plants for $2.00 each.

Some noticeable plants being sold are sweet corn, black beauty zucchini, sugar baby water, black cherry tomatoes, and many other vegetables that can be planted this spring.

If you are interested in plants or learning more about gardening, located in the Sunday Roar you can find a link for more information.

Pre-orders are going out, and they expect them to be filled by mid to late April. There are limited quantities, so if interested in ordering, order quickly.

Underdogs (2013) Movie Review

*Contains Spoilers*

The Underdogs might not look like the best football team but when they get dedicated they are beasts.

The Underdogs are a minor football team that sucks. Until superstar Two J’s had to coach them for community service.

Two J’s (played by Snoop Dogg) fell off after his big high school football catch. When he crashes and is charged, he has to go to court and the judge lets him do community service instead of time in jail.

At first, the team doesn’t like him and thinks he’s a bum because he’s picking up trash, and he starts cussing them out. But he sees his childhood girlfriend and changes his mind about the kids. He sees them play football and decides to step up and be the coach seeing that the spot is open.

The team sucks, and Two J’s makes it obvious and doesn’t give them an easy time. Game after game they get blown out. So Two J’s finally pulls out playbooks but practice still isn’t going the right way. They run play after play until they get it perfect.

The next couple of games they finally are up to speed and scoring and winning. So to congratulate them and make them feel official he gives them brand new expensive uniforms that Canes sponsors.

After they get the uniforms and play all down they start breezing by teams and finally get matched up with their rivals. They Were finally good enough to match up but it’s hard for the Underdogs to get the upper hand because the other coach paid the referee off. But they finally ended up slipping out of the bad referee and finally started scoring. They have 2 minutes left in the last quarter to win. They snapped the ball and passed it but the wide receiver was too short.

They ended up losing, and the other team started celebrating and the Underdogs started crying. But Two J’s reminded them how far they came as people and as a team. It gets them happy and proud again and then goes back to their families with a smile on their faces.

To celebrate the good season and close becoming family they go to the coach’s house and all have a good and fun time. But the kids end up getting drunk, and the coach catches them and kicks them out of the pool and his house.

The movie gave a lesson that it’s okay not to have anything or suck at what you love to do. But as long as you keep your head up and keep pushing you will end up doing better little by little day by day and eventually make it to the top or close enough.

Now You See Me

Good magicians never let you know how they do their tricks, bad ones always get caught.

“Now You See Me”, is one of if not the best magician movies. In the next paragraphs, I will tell and explain to you why it is.

The movie is about 4 magicians called the Four Horsemen. They all have different backgrounds but want to accomplish the same goal.

The Four Horsemen consist of 3 boys and 1 girl. J. Daniels, Dylan Rhodes, Merritt McKinney, Jack Wilder, and Henley Reeves. They all have different talents. But they all can deceive and make people turn a blind eye.

The fun part is they all teach each other their tricks so they can become better as one and a world sensation together. Jack specializes in throwing cards, which piques Merritt´s interest so he starts teaching him how too. It takes him a little while but he accomplishes it which helps them tremendously in the biggest heist there is going to complete and the whole world will hear about it.

So they have to get a tour of the Macau Science Center to get a chip or their secret will be released. They go in with the guide and 4-5 bodyguards. The others distract them while Mr.Atlas sneaks under the thing to replace the chip with the fake one. It takes him a little longer than expected so his friends are getting anxious. He finally comes out but when he does the bodyguards and tour guide start getting suspicious. So they start checking all the horsemen to see if they stole the chip but due to the new tricks they all learned they throw the card back and forth to stay undetected. It’s all going well until the card gets stuck on one of the guards. Lula bumps into him and safely retrieves it.

The moral of the story the 4 horsemen eventually face the world and everybody loves and adores them except the police and FBI because they believe they’re robbers and stole money and other belongings but they didn’t and haven’t.

The series ended with them saying goodbye to the world after locking up the people who tried to kill them and also stealing money from people around the world.

The 4 horsemen are more than magicians, they are heroes and good samaritans, people might not think so but they saved everybody from a huge terrorist attack which would have made the world bad and broke and it would have looked like the Great Depression all over again.

It’s good that the movie was made and kind of sent a message. You can do things with the best intentions ever or the worst but maybe somewhere down the line, you can have a change of heart and want to do something for the better, even if it’s just benefitting people around you and not yourself.

CKM 2023 Homecoming Rally

Monday, October 16th, was the first rally of the 2023-24 school year. It was fun, with many different performances and activities for all the different grades to participate in. It was also an opportunity for our sports teams and clubs to showcase their talents.

They introduced our varsity football team. Yes, they are starting off the year with a stroke of bad luck. But it was fun, they were all hyped and looked forward to turning the season around. They should have introduced the junior varsity team because they put in hard work for themselves, the team, and the school. They deserve the recognition. After that, they brought out volleyball, cross country, golf, and water polo.

Performance-wise everything was amazing and well coordinated. First up was the step team. The routines were great and got everybody in the spirit. The dance team then performed and ate it up. It was coordinated and overall the choreography and music were on point. Last but not least was cheer. They were pulling moves you only see in movies. Like splits in the air and pyramids.

Faculty members dressed up in costumes, like Mr. Garibay who went as Ariel and ¨swam¨ out onto the court. Teachers even performed a dance for us dressed like Barbie or Ken. It was fun and everybody remembered their parts. When they finished up everybody cheered for their favorite teacher. The teachers looked like they enjoyed themselves as well.

ASB started the activities after all the performances were over. They asked for 3 people from every grade to come up to participate in the first of the games. The first game was played by spinning around a baseball bat, running to the line and back, and so on.

The seniors won that one but it was a close battle for every round. Next was tug-of-war. One side was football and cross country, the other was volleyball and water polo. Everybody thought football was going to win but surprisingly the other side won. Either way, it was entertaining to watch.

All in all the rally was really fun. Everybody did their parts greatly and it all came into a fun show/performance for all of us to enjoy together. For the first one of this school year, it easily beats every rally from last year and previous ones. It was nice that there was no competition between classes as everybody was wearing pink. We participated in chants together and swayed as a big happy family.

Sac State @ Stanford

Sac State secured the win against Stanford. But only by a thread. The star of the game was Kaiden Bennett. The great quarterback threw the winning touchdown while dodging a sack, with 1:32 seconds left. Putting them at the top with a score of 30-23.

This was an important win for Sac State. For one, it ruined the debut of Stanford’s coach, Troy Taylor. It also might have been the greatest win in Sac States history since 1970.

It was a great game besides the ending score. Both teams played great offense and defense. It was a head-to-head game. Even though Stanford was up by half by 3 it didn’t stop Sac State. They kept their heads up and came back to score a field goal and of course the winning touchdown.

Sac State’s 2 big players to look at after the game were, K. Bennett and D. Gandy. But for Stanford, they had 3. J. Lamson, E.J. Smith, and E. Ayomanor. K. Bennett with an amazing passing yard number of 279, while Stanfords J. Lamson only had 138.

For the fans, the stands looked packed. Everybody in the West, East, North, and South parts of the stadium. The capacity of Stanford Stadium is 50,424. But the number that was attended was 23,848, almost 30,000 people. Yes, only 47% of the stadium was attended even though it looks like it’s packed.

Back to the teams though. Both teams greatly had over 300 total yards. 2 turnovers, and one team with 23 1st downs and the other with 18. Even though both teams had stats over the other, it didn’t stop it from being a head-to-head game.

Now for the amazing coach. Troy Taylor is Sac State’s former coach. He coached for 4 seasons and led to them beating Colorado 30-28 in 2012. He also led them to a 30-8 record and their first win in the FCS playoffs. Before he got replaced by Andy Thompson, who was the defensive coordinator for Sac State.

Unfortunately, Lamson got injured, but not before getting 121 yards for his college debut. Also ran for 36 yards and 16 carries.

Sac State and Stanford also have a good rivalry. But this time Sac State got the upper hand and beat Stanford by a very thin thread.
